How to Submit a Response to a Campaign

A guide for contributors to open a campaign, answer its questions, and submit a response in any supported format.

🎯 Who is this for?

This guide is for anyone who has been invited to contribute to a Folktale campaign. You may have received an email invitation or been given a direct link by the campaign organiser.


Overview

When you are invited to a campaign, you can share your response in a range of formats, including video, audio, images, or text. Before submitting, you will review your answers and confirm your privacy and consent preferences.

Depending on how the campaign is set up, you may be able to respond with or without a Folktale account.


Step One: Open the Campaign

  1. Open your email to find the campaign invitation and click the Participate Now button.
  2. You will be taken to the campaign details page, which explains the campaign's purpose, how many questions you need to answer, and how your response will be used.
  3. Read through the campaign details carefully.
  4. Once you have finished reading them, tick the 'I have read and agree to the terms' to confirm you have reviewed the terms and conditions.
  5. Click to continue to the next step.

💡 Note: You can also access a campaign directly via a shared link if the campaign organiser has sent you one instead of an email invitation.


Step Two: Sign In or Continue as a Guest

Depending on how the campaign is set up, you may be able to respond with a Folktale account or as a guest.

  • If you're responding with an account, then follow the steps in the guide, How to Sign Up or Sign In to Folktale.
  • If you're responding as a guest, you can do so without creating an account. Your access will be active only for the duration of your session.

💡 Note: Guest access expires when you log out or your session ends. You will not be able to return to edit or view your submission after this point.


Step Three: Answer the Questions

Work through each question one at a time. The first question typically asks for your name or identity details. From the second question onwards, you will respond to the campaign's main questions.


Privacy on the First Question

  1. On the first question, the campaign organiser may ask about your personal details. You can enter your name or type Anonymous User if you prefer not to share your identity.

Choosing Your Response Format

  1. For each campaign question, choose whether to respond using Multimedia or Text format.

Multimedia allows you to respond with:

  • Video
  • Audio
  • Images

Recording or Uploading a Response

  1. Select whether to record directly or upload a file from your device.
  2. To record, click the large red button to start. Click it again to stop when you have finished.

Editing or Changing Your Response

  1. If you're having second thoughts about your answer, you can click the Change button to switch to a different file format.
  2. To add a visual overlay to enrich your response, use the overlay option shown below your recording.
  3. To delete your response and start again, use the delete option.

Moving to the Next Question

  1. Once you are happy with your answer, click the Next button.
  2. to save it and move to the following question. Repeat for each question in the campaign.


Step Four: Preview and Review Your Responses

  1. After answering all questions, click the Preview button to see a summary of all your responses.
  2. Review each answer.
  3. To change any of your answers, you can still click the Edit button if needed. You will be taken back to that question to update your answer.


Step Five: Confirm Your Settings and Submit

Before submitting, check the two sections at the bottom of the preview page.

Advanced Settings

  1. Open the Advanced Settings section.
  2. Review your story visibility setting. Choosing Visible to Other Contributors allows your response to be seen by other participants.
  3. Confirm your contact preference if the campaign requests it.

Terms and Conditions

  1. Open the Terms and Conditions section and confirm you have read and agreed to the terms of both Folktale and the campaign organiser.

Submit

  1. When everything looks right, click Submit my story.

⚠️ Important: Once submitted, your response is sent to the campaign organiser. Make sure you are satisfied with your answers and privacy settings before clicking Submit.


Done

Your response has been submitted. The campaign organiser will be able to see it in their campaign dashboard.
